Humble Abodes Closing July 30, 2026
To our customers, business partners, and the Windsor community,
After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close Humble Abodes on July 30, 2026.
Since we bought Humble Abodes in 2015, we have continued its operations in Windsor, supplying quality beekeeping woodenware to beekeepers and distributors across the country. At the same time, we have managed and grown Betterbee in upstate NY, where we proudly live the slogan Beekeepers Serving BeekeepersⓇ.
The decision to close was not an easy one. Despite many productive years running the companies in parallel, the challenges of managing two businesses hundreds of miles apart have been great. In a manufacturing business as complex as Humble Abodes, keeping all of the wheels turning in the right directions has not been easy.
This closure and consolidation will allow us to better focus on serving all beekeepers. Betterbee provides a wide range of beekeeping supplies for retail customers and distributors. Betterbee prioritizes learning, and we encourage you to get a feel for that by reading the Betterbee Buzz. The archive of newsletters can be found at https://www.betterbee.com/instructions-and-resources/Betterbee-Newsletter-Archives.asp. Humble Abodes will offer a clearance sale starting on July 8th and running until inventory is gone (or July 30). Please check with us soon for any additional volume discounts on items you may be looking for.
While we hope that you will continue to work with us by shopping at Betterbee, we realize there are times when you need to run and pick up something locally. There are a few other bee suppliers in the area that we respect and are happy to send you to. Brian Mason with Spicer Bees is in Windsor; Lincoln Sennet with Swans Honey and John Cousins with Bridge Road Apiary have shops north of Windsor, and Chris Rogers with Backwoods Bee Farm is south of Windsor.
To every customer who has supported us in the past, each employee who has worked tirelessly to produce the quality woodenware Humble Abodes has always been known for, and to our suppliers who have helped us keep things running: Thank you. We appreciate each of you very much. It has been a great privilege to work with you, and we hope to continue our relationships with most of you through our primary business, Betterbee.
