The Downeast Center for Beekeeping, LLC operates as Humble Abodes in the State of Maine.
Because of varying market conditions, the prices in our price sheets/website/phone and mail orders are subject to change. Humble Abodes reserves the right to invoice all orders on the basis of prices which are in effect at the time of shipment. We will try to contact you if there is any substantial change in the prices of any items you have ordered. Please feel free to confirm prices at any time by calling toll-free 1-877-423-3269.
We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, money orders, direct wire transfers, cash, and checks. If your credit card is declined we will contact you to try to correct the payment. If payment is not corrected, we will unfortunately have to cancel your order.
Any overdue credit amounts are subject to a 1.5% monthly charge. If not paid after the first statement cycle, a $10 per month billing charge will be assessed in addition to the 1.5% monthly charge. Payment for merchandise is invoiced in United States Dollars.
We reserve the right to pass non-payment claims to third party collection agencies and legal means for remittance. Purchases are subject to the laws of the State of Maine and the United States of America and its subsequent international treaties with other countries and organizations.
By law, we are required to collect Maine State sales tax for all orders picked up at our facility or shipped to an address in Maine. Sales tax exemptions will be honored if we have a valid certificate on file. Order shipped out of state by common carrier are not charged tax. Please email or fax a copy of your sales tax exemption before placing your order so we can charge you appropriately for your order. If you do have a sales tax exemption on file with us and you create a new profile on our website, your exemption will not carry over to your new profile. Our products are shipped via Fedex Ground or courier depending on order size. Every effort is made to keep shipping costs to a minimum. For small orders, our website will estimate the shipping cost before you place your order based on the size and quantity of items. For large orders that will ship by LTL, we will need to get shipping quotations and contact you. Please note that while we attempt to figure the shipping costs as closely as possible, at times we may need to increase or reduce your shipping charge based on the actual weight of the items and the number of boxes.
We can also ship with your Fedex account number. There is a $5 flat fee per box to cover our packaging costs. Please call or email if you would like us to do this. There is also a pallet fee for pallets of woodenware that we package for shipment or pickup, and the fee varies depending on our cost to obtain pallets.
Additional Freight Charges: The small package carriers impose additional charges if they have to make changes to your shipping information after the order has been processed. To avoid these charges, please ensure that you provide accurate information and/or confirm shipping information at the time of your phone, web or mail-in order.
We can arrange trucking or you can make arrangements with your preferred carrier. Any breakage or damage in transit is the responsibility of the shipping company. Accessorial fees such as residential delivery or liftgate are the responsibility of the customer, and may be billed after delivery.
If we make an error or send you the wrong product please call and we will correct the problem. We work hard to properly package your purchase to avoid damage during shipping. Returns & Exchanges
Any unused and undamaged item, except for those that are non-returnable, with which you are not satisfied may be returned within 30 days for a refund or credit slip covering the purchase price of the item. If you would like to return or exchange an item, please call us at 1-877-423-3269 for a Return Authorization.
If you pay by MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover, we will credit your account and the credit will be reflected on your account statement. If you pay by check or money order, we will issue a refund check. Freight charges cannot be credited.
Pick Up Orders
If you are planning a visit, please call first to ensure product availability and to secure your order. If you pre place an order we will try to have it packed for you when you arrive. Please help us by checking orders carefully before you leave to be certain everything is correct. We don’t want you to get home and discover that we have made an error.
Web orders can be placed on our website at www.humbleabodesmaine.com. All orders will be processed in the order they are received. If you need your order urgently, please call or email before placing your order to inquire about lead time.
Please call if you need to cancel or modify an order. We cannot guarantee that we will receive emails in time to stop a shipment from going out, so please call 1-877-423-3269. Cancellation fees may apply if an order has already been prepared for shipment.
Special orders must be accompanied by a deposit of no less than 50% with the balance due prior to shipment. Some special orders may be subject to a cancellation charge. Call 877-423-3269 Toll-Free for details regarding what constitutes a special order.
We attempt to ship all orders as soon as possible. Please be aware that during busy season, we may accumulate a backlog of orders to produce. We will let you know an estimated time of delivery if a product is out of stock.
Orders for Export
We welcome requests for our products and thank you for your interest. Quotes on orders for export may include shipping, special packaging, and documentation at a customer’s request. All shipments for export are subject to prepayment in United States Dollars and are subject to the laws and statutes of the State of Maine, the United States of America and its subsequent international treaties.
We accept the following forms of payment for foreign orders: Paypal, money orders in US dollars and wire transfer in US dollars. All bank wire transfer costs and exchange rates are the responsibility of the customer. We will quote ocean freight FOB Windsor, ME. USA
If an order is changed, the freight quote will have to be recalculated delaying the shipment. We insure all overseas shipments if it is available to the destination country. All shipments overseas are the responsibility of the customer and shipped at the customer's risk.
Because conditions of use are beyond our control, we make no warranty or representation, express or implied, except that all products conform to the description provided by the manufacturer on sales literature or product labels. Our liability is limited to the purchase price paid.
